Description
Launched into active service in 2264, the Titan-Class was intended to be the beginning of a new breed of vessel that would take Starfleet through the rest of the 23rd century and into the 24th. With an experimental new design of warp core and a vast array of new sensors and computer systems, as well as vastly improved weapons and shields, and numerous other subsystems she ship was cutting edge in every regard, however all of these new advancements would ultimately prove to be too much.

Starfleet Command had intended for there to be a run of 12 ships, but the complex new technology made her very resource intensive to build, whilst the Fleet Modernisation Project showed that many of the developments could be streamlined and included as part of their project to reinvigorate the existing fleet, to the point where three Constitution-Class or four Miranda-Class ships could be fully refitted in the time to build a single Titan-Class. Due to these facts, the planned run of ships was stopped after the fourth vessel in the line was completed in 2265.
