Description
Another recent art commission. The client wanted a drawing of a sexy gypsy girl, and offered some specific details about how she should look.I asked, "Can I put the Wolfman in there stalking her?"
The client said, "Sure why not!"
...And this is how it turned out!

Ha! I've noticed. All of your Wolfman drawings are phenomenal. By the way, have you considered doing a Pacific Rim piece? Haven't seen you do a robot as far as I can recall but you could do a pretty mean-lookin' Kaiju for sure

Thanks again!
I haven't seen Pacific Rim yet (geez did it come out already?? I guess I've been too busy to pay attention)... So I have no idea what any of it really looks like... I only saw the trailer once, at the theater before The Hobbit, and it looked awesome. I definitely hope to see it one of these days.
Funny you should mention robots and Kaiju...
As for robots - oh brother, from February 2010 to October 2012 I was drawing robots 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, working on the "Transformers Prime" animated TV show!!! I've spent 3 years up to my eyeballs drawing robots!! Haha. And since October 2012 till now, I've been working on a show called "Kaijudo", about little kids who control monsters from another dimension. Haha. If anything I could use a break from these subjects! Haha (just kidding, love my day- job).
But if you mean old school Kaiju, yeah I'm a lifelong Godzilla fan and have often thought about doing an illustration of him!

I wish it came out already! Nah, it comes out on July 12. Funny because the director of Pacific Rim co-directed the Hobbit (which was a phenomenal film). I know for a fact that Pac Rim will be amazing. I've really indulged in it and I have seen all that there is about it besides the movie. When I say you should do fan art I mean you should do it based off of the trailer. I;m actually doing a piece right now but I'm debating whether or not I should change from the Knife-headed kaiju to the Ax-headed kaiju. I personally think the ax-headed one looks more menacing but I dig the other one too, hmmm...
I didn't know you were working on the Transformers Prime series! You really meet all kinds of cool people on here . And I heard about Kaijudo. I don't know if you heard but the company behind Kaijudo tried to sue Kaiju Combat for using the word Kaiju in the title. No offense but that's just ridiculous. It looks neat though.
I am really surprised that you have not done any old-school kaiju pieces yet! One monster that I know you could draw great would be King Caesar. He's very dog-like, like the Wolfman that you love drawing!

I never heard the story about that Kaijudo lawsuit. But then, I'm just one of the artists working on the animated show. Totally separate company/ department/ etc from the people who make the card game it's based on. So who knows!
I will hold off doing any fan art of Pacific Rim till I see the movie.
Trust me I have been meaning to do an illustration of Godzilla for a while. He is just one item on a LOOOONG list of subjects that I want to do illustrations of. I will get to him eventually.
Funny you mention King Ceasar. Call this a crazy coincidence, but I actually have the DVD of "Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla" on my desk at work today. I brought it with me and was planning to watch it at work this week while doing my animation stuff. Maybe that coincidence is "a sign" that I should bump Godzilla to the top of my "illustrations to do" list and draw him sooner than later?!

All the signs are pointing to "yes you should". I'm actually really curious to see how you do Godzilla. Do you prefer small, human-sized monsters over Kaiju or vice versa?

I am definitely more of a fan of normal/human-sized monsters, than the giant/skyscraper-sized Kaiju monsters. But I love all monsters.

Yeah, I figured that from looking at all of your artwork. I personally like bigger monsters better but I still love the little guys too. In the end, monsters are monsters and classics are classics.

Well, most of them can crush us with their bare hands but to Godzilla they are itty little ants

Somehow I never imagined Godzilla existing in the same universe as the more traditional monsters.

Gorgeous work. All the good stuff I said about the lines and ink still stands, but the interplay of moonlight and fog in this version is simply amazing. Thank you very much.

Haha, Yeah it's always fun if I can bend the rules of a commission just a tiny bit to satisfy my own interests! Luckily most of my clients are pretty friendly and flexible. Thanks for commenting!
