It's a blank, do-it-yourself vinyl toy released by Kidrobot at the link above. You get one and paint it yourself, however you want. They are sweeping the lowbrow art world like crazy.

Great idea. And I guess you'd advise the guy from Poltergeist to convert his house into a "How the West Was Won" cowboy museum. Your best bet now is to keep 1 or 2 young kids around that are slower runners than you.

I've had a few requests. My mom wants one of all her kids. I am working on a new one right now, but it's of a character from one of my illustrations, not a real person. I really don't like working from reality. I did this one to avoid putting up any more pics of myself!

It's nothing personal. Just every time I agree to do a piece with someone's kids or themselves, it becomes a great struggle for me. I feel that there are SO many boundaries in order to make the piece pleasing to the person it is intended to represent. I don't find much freedom in that kind of work, therefore I usually choose to stay with the stuff I gain the most satisfaction from. Otherwise, art becomes WORK! We certainly don't want that!

Deciding how to paint it was certainly the hardest part. My wife liked the idea of the self-portrait. Half way through painting it I decided I really was having fun, so I ordered more. Just dive into it. I'm sure you'll come up with something cool.
