Description
So I saw the movie Oblivion the other day and I loved the landscapes in that movie. I tried to make a similar landscape in Terragen and ended up with what is above. I love the way the mountains and rivers came out and how there are stormy clouds rolling in. I'm also glad I finally mastered making detailed planets. Just look at how awesome that planet looks. Also, download for the best quality. Enjoy!EDIT: Oh wow a Daily Deviation!??!?!?! I never thought any of my work would be featured! Thank you so much everybody for all the awesome feedback! I'm glad you like my work!

Wow...I just love this one ! Great mountain ranges and what a fantastic background planet.Β You really brought out a feeling a vastness of space time. That fuzzy planet really looks far far away and huge, and alien...
the distant mountain range horizon(especially to the left corner) gives a feeling of endlessness...what huge planet is this on?
The brownish mountain colors transision into the brown white clouds , and then into the bluish whisk sky is so beautiful and smooth..and very calming. The air seems breathable...non threatening. I don't get the sense of threatening thunder clouds moving in from the right. Perhaps a bolt of lightning in the distant dark cloud would be real kooool.
PS: I notice the are two parallel white streaks in the sky...what are those?Β Jet streams?

Thanks for analyzing my work! I really enjoyed reading that! Usually when I finish work like this I like to stare at it and try to imagine what it would be like if I were standing at the exact spot that is shown and how it would be. I also wish that I thought about adding a single lightning strike in the distance because that would be great just to add all the more detail to the work. As for the streaks in the sky, I usually try to make them like an ion trail from a ship or some aircraft but I like to throw them into my work so that you see that this breathtaking wild environment has some sort of hidden civilization to it. Thanks again for your comment!

do you literally let a program make stuff or do you actually do stuff.

I make everything you see here. For the terrain I make it from scratch in a 3D terrain program and then it renders into a picture. The planet consists of several layers that I make in Photoshop and the rings/minor details I make very easily also in Photoshop.
