Since I didn't put a date on this we can assume this was very early 2013 or late 2012. One of my first several digital paintings. If you don't know, Cthulhu is a fantasy demon from the writings of H.P. Lovecraft. I haven't read the story, but with my loose interpretation, Lovecraft describes a great demon deep under the sea, chained and locked down there by some magic. And legend goes that Cthulhu holds all of the evil or hate of mankind and if he is ever to be released it will be hell on Earth, or armageddon, the end, or otherwise a very, very bad day.

That is why a lot of art you see regarding Cthulhu is always showing him sort of breaking free from deep under the ocean.

Well, not such a cheery story, but there is a sort of cult following for Cthulhu and a lot of people think he is cool.

So with that in mind, I thought I would try my hand at making this since I hadn't done any monsters or creatures in a while. Much like many other paintings I did at the time, I spent a long, long time on it, and nobody seemed to ... care.

But I can see obvious mistakes in it now, maybe I will touch it up in a second version sometime soon.
