Description Firebolt is a contemporary of Thunder Woman, making her official debut as a heroine only a couple months before Samantha became active as a heroine herself. She is a speedster whose powers are based around a golden energy field that facilitates multiple aspects of her abilities, and which makes her look like a streak of fire while moving at extreme speeds, hence the name. She is also well known for a mischievous, flirty personality and persona that tends to unbalance allies and adversaries alike. And most of all, she is a public and outspoken lesbian, something that is still uncommon in the hero community even today despite great strides in progressive acceptance.

In their initial encounters, Thunder Woman came to view Firebolt as a pest at best, and a liability at worst. It didn't help that Firebolt's flirtatious interactions with her, coupled with the heroine's great speed, meant that Firebolt greatly annoyed Thunder Woman and could avoid any attempt by Samantha to restrain or halt her activities. So any time Firebolt is around, Samantha's immediate reaction is almost comparable to when she encounters one of her own villains. She even prefers dealing with Queen to Firebolt.

But then, things change.

As she has continued to encounter and interact with Thunder Woman, Firebolt has slowly come to a realization about herself. For a while, she thought she just liked to be around Thunder Woman because it was fun to annoy the more serious heroine. And there was truth to that. But then there were a few situations where Firebolt's devil-may-care personality slipped and she became...serious, becoming unexpectedly concerned whenever Thunder Woman was in peril or taking an admonishment from Thunder Woman harder than anticipated. To her own dismay, Firebolt has realized that she has actually fallen for Thunder Woman, and there is now an awkward tension between them instead of the usual animosity, amplified by Samantha not sharing the same sexual orientation as Firebolt. Firebolt is struggling to figure out how to reveal her attraction to Thunder Woman, afraid of rejection because of their past relations, and because Samantha might not share the same attraction. As such, there is an uncertainty to Firebolt now, something Thunder Woman has picked up on. Samantha has a suspicion that Firebolt's attraction is greater than the flirtations have suggested, but has not confronted Firebolt, lest she cause the heroine actual harm. Like Firebolt, she's not sure what to do about the situation.

Sooner or later, something's got to give.

This is an awesome new character/ Now only are her powers outside the original speedster tropes, but she also has a different relationship to Thunder Woman than most mainstream superheroes do. In fact, the only one I can think of in a similar situation is Black Cat & Spider-Man.

Also, I really like her design, especially her hair!

I have very few traditional speedsters in the Extraordinary Mythos, and of those I don't think I've posted a single one yet. I'm very fond of the "flying speedster" concept.

Yeah, Black Cat is an influence here, evident in the mask and big hair (which is easily my favorite part of making her, it's sooooooooo beautiful), though the main difference here is that Firebolt is less ambiguous than Black Cat; unlike Felicia, she is quite clearly a heroine, she just has certain personality flaws that make her a bit less welcome, kinda like with Guy Gardner.

She exists primarily to give Thunder Woman a character conflict that isn't rooted in some clear form of antagonism or supervillainy, as well as to give her a very different sort of love interest than the usual fawning dudes.

As I said with Eric here, this was a rare instance of me instantly knowing what the character looked like. Those usually turn out to be some of my best characters designwise.

If that's the case, have you seen my OC Blitz? One of her abilities is to use her aerokinetic speed to run like the wind ON/IN the wind.

I noticed that, and I think that's what really make her hook more interesting.

I forget that some conflicts in comics aren't necessarily antagonistic or rivalry. Maybe I should look into that more myself.

I agree. Having an picture already in your head really helps paint the actual one.

Also, I can't wait to see more of your speedster ideas!

Thank you. This is one of the few times I knew straight away what the character looked like.
