Another day, another major villain update!

This one I am ESPECIALLY happy with, as I was just never all that satisfied with the original, particularly in regards to executing his giant toothy jaws, which from the beginning were inspired by the "Warbeast" from the awesome 90s cyberpunk horror film "Death Machine." The other part was executing his hunched forward posture from a purely frontal perspective, as well as the "mane" of wires connected to the head. Various tricky, unique physical attributes which have dogged me for years now.

I'll let you guys in on something: the key with creating something and bringing it to light is as much your vision in your head as it is your actual physical artistic ability. And with so many of these character updates, that is key to their improvement. You may think your vision today is crystal clear, but sometimes it's not as clear as you think it is. That's something that takes time and thought to develop.

Anyway, so this here is Manticore, a major megavillain in the ExMythos and the archnemesis of Allegiance member Megabeast. Full details of his backstory are in the link to the old design below, but he's a mythologically-themed cyborg weapon gone rogue who now leads a group of similarly themed mutant/nonhuman superpowered individuals known as the "Beastiary," with the goal of pursuing a mutual vendetta against normal humanity fueled by pure hate and spite stemming from perceived or legitimate grievances suffered by them. I've always thought of Manticore's characterization as something akin to a combo of the "hateful supremacist" take on Magneto advocated by writers like Grant Morrison and Mark Millar, and the classical take on Marvel villain Ultron.

One detail about Manticore's backstory that I do plan on changing is that he is no longer a strictly Chinese creation, but instead is the product of a multinational task force of scientists and engineers from countries who lost territory to Malek Tsan when he created Zahrgiah, including China, Russia, India, and Iran. Thus, the purpose behind his creation is now specifically as part of an effort to create superweapons to take on Malek Tsan and counter his vast supernatural powers within Zahrgiah's borders to take back their former territories, or at least push him out of the Arabian peninsula and away from the southern Asian coast with the Indian ocean.
