I'm really fucking sick of this. Calling people you disagree with "autistic" is not okay. Autism is a real condition that seriously affects peoples' lives, and it does not make them inferior people. It should not be considered an insulting term and if you are using it as one you should be ashamed. And before you type a comment saying that me taking the time to stand up for people who are different is "cringy", put down your keyboard or your phone and take a long hard look at yourself.Related content

I'm also autistic, and being one is pretty hard, especially back when I was an elementary school student. Since the school area is more of a countryside and not a city, nobody known how to cope with one and I was almost alienated by my classmates.

I have Asperger's, and it has helped define who I am. I've seen people who consider us inferior and say we have a bad reputation. That's all a pack of lies. We may think differently, but we're still human like everyone else. It's anti-autistic people who are not human. My autism is a gift, and I have learned to embrace it.

I would join you on your fight, but it's no use. People have been using medical terms that loosely correlate with "stupid" or "ugly" for hundreds of years. Words like "moron", "idiot", "cretin", and the relatively recent "retarded" all used to be neutral terms of medicine; ironically, some of the people in the comments are contributing to a problem they claim to oppose by using such words. There's just no way I can see that the words "autism" and "autistic" will be prevented from suffering the same fate.

Moronic insults are the norm for today's society. I wish it would be like ten years ago, where nobody gave a crap about this in humor. Autism is not something to joke about. I'm not autistic, but I have had a couple of friends that were. They were different, and now that's who I am. The next generation is going to have a hard time dealing with idiocy.

Am pretty sure that those who throw Autism around like an insult are ignorant to what it really is in the first place.
Like with all disorders and mental illness the abundance of stereotypes and negative social stigma further alienates peoples perception, like the word Retard...... there's just no salvaging that
Though, the more people who are open with disability and share their personal experience then the less stigmatized it becomes.
But agreed, its not nice the way people use things that very seriously effect peoples lives as a bullying or insulting tool.
Hopefully they will learn.

I have Aspergers and for me I see it as a bit of both, it's got advantages like the ability to focus on special interests and to think about things differently and disadvantages like hypersensitivity to smells and difficulty expressing emotions.

Same here. Got Aspergers also but helps me with my PC skills and other stuff. Worked on a shit load of the symptoms and feel myself more normal than ever before.
P.S Am I the only one who thinks sometimes I'm normal and others are Autistic?
