this is absolutely beautiful. +fav

it took my breath away as soon as i saw it. very few photographs do that to me. i love that the subject of the photograph seems to be the darkness itself, and that the other objects merely peer out of it, as though they belong to it. its very striking. great job.

interesting use of leading lines, mainly becuase they extend beyond the subject, nice textures on moth the floor and brick... i think the exposure is a nice artic choice, as it gives the pale tones and the subject a bit more emphesis. i would kill for a med. format cam... good work.

Yeah, I know how this is. This really evokes a lot of emotion, on my part, although I'm just a sappy son-of-a... well, you get the picture.

Excellent work, I love the color and the darkness of the overall scene. This is a favorite, simply because there is something I can't identify here... that just pushes my buttons. Well done.

very nice composition
and the lighting is very nicely done
maybe a tad bit dark
but nothing that couldn't be fixed with little effort

i like the slight illumination on the person
it adds a certain "something"
i'd hate to say expression, but that can't exist in a picture can it?

naw im just messin with ya.
nicely done
very good concept for your 4x6

I guess Im not feeling it like everyone else

It doesnt really evoke any emotion but I do like the red tones on the side... haha I dont know why, I just think its cool

I agree with most of the criticism bout the darkness at the top, but, that might not have been fixable...

I don't know if it's my crappy monitor but I think it looks a bit too dark around the guy, which detracts a bit from the idea of the image - I guess he's the center of it all. But aside from that, this is a beautiful photograph, the composition is impeccable, using the curve lines and all that. hey the colours make a good match, too.

*goteki stole my comment* Anyhow, you are by far one of the best photographers ever. I love this picture. Color variation and timing was just right. Noneless, one of the best photographs I've encountered here at DeviantArt. Keep up the good work my friend.

I wish it had been more exposed, but the shot overall seems good. The red light is interesting, but that "person" sitting there just doesn't fit. Though I do like the clarity and the crisp capture... i can even see the details on the pavement and pebbles. That part I like!

elvee [2003-01-29 16:47:58 +0000 UTC]

Score one for simplicity. I think there could be a little more detail up around the person, but that's trivial. I love the composition- you have both straight bricks and curved lines and it all works cohesively. Well done indeed.

Bud, coming to look more and more of your works, I can really learn to understand and appreciate more. The picture series you subdmitted really are good in giving depth of field to the composition. It also gives an intense mood with the harmony and 3/4 frame guide. You take a picture of somthing simple and turn them into a great piece art.

the only interesting thing about this photo is the red light in the background. but the way the lights on the roof compete for attention with that red light is leading my eye away from the most interesting part of the photograph, which really isn't all that visible to begin with. the composition on the upper left and right sides is really sloppy with too much dead space that forms uninteresting shapes. it's underexposed and what is the point of the figure within the scene? you can hardly even see him/her.

I like your stuff, but the composition of this one isn't all that entertaining, and the negative top area doesn't balance well with the curves. Maybe this pic would have a better effect if it was larger? I don't think it has enough positive space for a small 4X6.

people, please understand 'out of normal' was meant for the photographer to go somewhere where they havent been, somewhere OUT OF THE NORMAL PATHS OF DAILY LIFE and take shots.. not necessarily an out of normal subject... hence forth, seems like bud chose his school.
