Description You're probably thinking: what the hell is this?

It's a fair question seeing as this strip doesn't seem to make any sense. If you've heard anything about the Large Hadron Collider, then you're a step in the right direction. However what this comic is, is a reaction to this video on Youtube I came accross by some guy called "Gorilla 199".

LHC SATANS STARGATE 2008: [link]
The video was posted back in April '08 and speculated on what would happen when the Large Hardron Collider was turned on in the upcoming summer. The gist of the video is that Gorilla believed that the Hadron Collider would shoot a large beam of energy into the sky, punch a hole in the Van Allen Belt, open a Stargate to the planet "Nibiru" where Satan lives, at which point Satan would hop in his spaceship, fly to Earth, and begin the Apocolyps.
Needless to say, you can almost see the bats flying around this guy's head, he's so crazy.

CERN "Scientists" proven wrong by an idiot: [link]
Of course, the Collider was switched on last summer and nothing happened. This did not, however, fool Gorilla 199 who, the following December, posted a new video proving that he was right! ...because the Collider didn't produce any black holes... He then ended his video by throwing pies in the faces of everyone who had doubted him.

After watching this, all I could think was: Right! Because opening a portal to the apocolyps seems so trivial when you see that scientists didn't make any microscopic black holes! After that, I just could not get this comic idea out of my head and so I finally conceeded to my urges and drew this comic.

Gorilla 199: you are a paranoid fanatic, and I love you for it. I found your videos immensly entertaining and the only way they could've been funnier is if they played in the Mystery Science Theater!
God bless your fruity mind!

At the end of his second video, he throws pies at us too. So I ended this by throwing one back.

As a side note: I loved drawing this guy. I don't know why, but I just think his face is great. A good face to draw.

I got it right here.

Unfortunately, the lazer pie opens a portal to Hell.
Sorry. That's just what it does.

This already had "4Chan" written all over it, I figured I may as well go the rest of the way.

My point is that this is what Gorilla 199 believes happened. It's rediculous.

Opinions like his are offensive to those of us who understand physics.

I can see that and I'm not even a physisist.

Then again, with the right sense of humor, I can also see how he'd crack them up.
He's like a medieval inquisitor scratching his head at an iPod.

You do have a point. But I have spent years of my life studying physics and trying to help others understand it. Guys like that just make me feel like humanity doesn't deserve the work I/we put in to it.

Bug-Off In reply to noc38mustang [2008-12-18 16:26:29 +0000 UTC]

Wow, so you're really a physisist? Or studying to become a pysisist?

That's amazing. Physics is so complicated. I know because I took a physics class and found it so hard to understand. I have respect for anyone in that career field.

noc38mustang In reply to Bug-Off [2008-12-18 19:28:52 +0000 UTC]

Neither. I study it and explain it to others that ask, but it's more of a hobby; I just find it absolutely fascinating. I did well in school classes and study it on my own all the time... I find I know more at 22 years old than my teachers do about Quantum Physics, conventional particle physics and chemistry. I find that sad, though I live in a town populated by hippies, so I'm not surprised. But people I know always come to me to ask about things like the LHC for example. I have to explain gravity and why micro black holes aren't a threat in a way that they understand.
My own parents constantly ask me questions about it. I recently found myself explaining that gravity isn't a force, but a side effect of the warping of space-time by mass (in not so simple a language).
It's interesting.

He reads science books all the time. Right now he reads more about biology, but I know he's got a few physics books too.

I have to admit nothing.
This guy probably just saw the thing on the news and jumped to the first conclusion he could think of.

His logic is: it's big and scientific, it must be evil.
