There's a puppet quality to this that I find fascinating.

Me, too. While visiting Venice recently I stumbled upon a store window full of huge cat puppets in musketeer dress. Good thing it was early morning and that store was closed or I think I just might have lost myself to impulse purchasing!

Yupthats the coolest!
May I be so rude as to ask where you find the bisque doll heads? Do you actually get vintage/antique and dismantle them?
I have two tiny gofun like dolls Ive had since I was a girl and I had others I lost. So, I always notice those.

I typically find them on Ebay. I look for ones that have serious problems already so are cheaper ..... I think I've been lucky so far, but sometimes they are hard to find and too expensive.

ThanksThats nice you give them new life! The worn ones have more character anyway.
I started buying frozen Charlotte's for some of my work and Im surprised how expensive they can be!

Yeah, the only way to get any sort of a deal is to buy them in bulk, then sell back the ones you don't want. I have some frozen charlotte heads that I don't want ... would you want them? I could send you some freebies .... where do you live?

Id love to get an old one and make a mold of it for experimenting with. Some of them are really beautifully sculpted and I wonder why they arent reproduced like old porcelains are.
Sure Id love to have the Charlotte heads. So far I bought some 1" tall Charlotte's and am making a crown of them standing in a circle .This will be for a bust to wear. I also thought I might put some inside a bust niche. Im in CA.
