Description Snatched from who posted it to her Flickr. It's silly, but I like the idea of tracing out where your ideas come from. You can also download a PSD of the meme itself here: [link]

Stuff. I want to explain, but I'll be here for days. \*A*/ Atlantis gets a sadface because I remember so looking forward to it based on the trailers, but it was so bad. I enjoyed the setting and art style, though, and I know it's found its way into my work in more than one way.

The concept of these is pretty neat but there's soooo much you could use; on the other hand what's influential and what's not? I was tempted to fill mine with stuff I liked and had to keep reminding myself that artistic influence doesn't work that way |D

Also I really liked Atlantis 8< but maybe that's my nostalgia goggles kicking in, I haven't seen it in years.

Yeah it was hard to differentiate sometimes, but I tried to think in reverse about certain things. A lot of this goes back to when I was a kid, so it IS nostalgic, but they're also the things that really fueled me to draw and make stuff. Stories like Dinotopia and Narnia and Riven drove me to invent worlds as a background for a story; I feel like a lot of Genesis games and other video games helped me learn to think about color, and so on. (Somehow I still picture that damn Roadrunner and Coyote game EVERY time I'm painting a desert scene. I'm ruined for life.) Sometimes it's hard to draw the line, but these are probably my biggest influences so they kind of stuck out for me.

I watched Atlantis again about a year ago. It was so much worse than I remembered. 8D; Still, at the time it rekindled my love for Disney and animation and I went through an "I'm going to be an animator for realz" phase, lol.

Dinotopia, another one I thought of, and left out. Really this thing isn't big enough

Yeah, it could go on forever once you start thinking about these things. 8D

OH MAN ATLANTIS. I was so pumped because Mignola was a production designer for it. Then it came out and I thought I was watching Stargate /D; What.

Always interesting to look back /3

Yeah, it was such a bizarre movie, but visually pretty. 8D

It's so terrible but I remember it's basically the only anime thing I ever watched other than Pokemon, and I remember my little teenage self being awed by the art style lol 8|

I used to think Voltron was drawn by computers because it looked soooo good to me at the time. Now I look back and I'm like... what the hell was I thinking? 8D;

I can only imagine how bad it would have been if there was singing. 8D; As bad as it was, I remember being really into the style of the thing and it made me want to draw more seriously. As seriously as you can want to draw when you're like 13, anyway. \*w*/

yeah i really dug the style at the time but by then i had more of an idea of what i wanted to do so it didn't influence me all that deeply *w* i was really hardgay for treasure planet too, but again it just didn't really affect me practically. i think my love of disney had more to do with expression and gesture. now when i watch it it's a bit over the top for me but it's still the gold standard for good animation.
