I'm sure you've been asked this a million times by now, but what drawing program and brushes do you use? I started doing digital paintings last year, and I'm hoping to eventually reach your skill level with it.Β

I usually make mine more colorful tho, just splashing random colors that look together, some parts warmer/colder than others
It's basically the base. The main objective for me in this part is to just get the vales and composition.
I use under paintings if I'm too lazy to make a clean sketch :,D
I used that method in this one!
Getting a good foundation!
get a clean sketch, colors, shading, lighting and effects. then just paint over it.
I use this a lot recently. more than 50% of the time is spent painting.
Just paint right over a messy sketch lol
I used to do this a lot in the past when I got lazy rip
no effects, and lots of eyeing colors. using a really opaque brush, barely any opacity, it's fast too.
I don't paint like this recently because I'm working on a cleaner style, but I might do something like this in the future.

So, for building up colors, are there a certain range of colors you use, or do you just do a sorta trail-and-error process until you end up with some that look good together? I've been using darker shades of the color for shadows with the opacity let low, and I don't really like doing it. It doesn't set a good mood. As for coloring over the sketch, I do that with a harder, round brush, lock the transparency, and color within it. Should I just build up the colors as I go instead?

I just use complimentary/triad colors! I usually go towards blue/orange and red/yellow/blue, it's kinda hard for me to explain, rip. I learned what I know about color from videos!!Β
