There's something special about the original games that nothing can compete with. I personally love the 'darker' atmosphere they have about them than the newer games, but I like both. xD

I totally agree with the description (actually...251 XD). People think that the gens 3-5 get too much hate, but there is actually more hate towards the first two gens than the later ones. Like the "BAWW U NOSTALGIAFAG" to everyone who likes the old Pokemon better/doesn't like the new ones.

I agree! Many of the Pokèmon in generation 1 had an excellent balance of being stylized, yet relating back to familiar animals and things.
I never had a problem filling up my party with six Pokèmon I loved the designs and abilities of in generation 1. As a matter of fact, I had trouble just sticking to six of them! With so many interesting choices, I found myself fighting against swapping out Pokèmon most of the game.
I haven't found any other generation of Pokèmon that made me make decisions like that. Factually, it took me a long time to just fill my party to six with Pokèmon I actually liked in both ability and look. Not to say they were all bad, but I felt it hard to find all the types I needed while having looks I could live with.
Generation 1 it was pretty easy.
Fire type?
Well, Charizard obviously! I don't think there are many people who can say honestly that they disliked Charizard, he's a freaking dragon, aesthetically speaking! Can't go wrong there! But also Arcanine was another excellent choice that few people could really say they disliked!
Lightning? PikaPika! The anime proves it! Pikachu is beyond favored by most of the community given how long he stayed on the team! Not your thing? That's fine! Joltion is excellent! Or looking for something just, different? Magneton is certainly different!
Most types in generation 1 have good Pokèmon that will do the job just fine, and look good at the same time. Later generations just just didn't feel as saturated with solid designs the masses could love without "Acquired taste".
