Absolutely gorgeous detail on the feathers in this! The feathers on the front look so soft I just want to stroke them, and the wing feathers look stunningly realistic! The face is well proportioned and the eyes are intelligent and very well done; overall a beautiful piece that you should be very proud of. I'd love to see a watercolor version of this, but please if you do, photocopy the original! Don't lose this amazing sketchwork.

To be honest I hadn't even thought of making a watercolor copy until you brought it up. I'll definitely have to do that sometime. Thank you so much for the awesome suggestion.

Well, it was actually supposed to be Soren originally, but I didn't think most of my friends would get the reference since I don't know how many of them read Guardians of Ga'hoole growing up. So I thought of it as Soren, even if I titled it "Owl." The fact that it reminds you of Soren makes me really happy!

I didn't know of "Guardians" until the movie came out. I was 17 then, and I feigned interest. A year later I chose to read the books, thinking "Bullshit to the age range". Now I love Soren and "Guardians" and I'm writing a fanfiction.

I haven't seen the movie yet, I really want to and trailer looks AMAZING but I've also seen a lot of beloved childhood books that were ruined as movie adaptions so I'm nervous.
And I agree, bullshit to the age range! I've recently gotten back into Warriors and Animorphs and some other "kid books" I read back in elementary school but rejected as a teenager. I think C.S Lewis hit the nail on the head when he said that an adult's aversion to children's stories is a mark of childishness. People should be able to openly love stories.
