Hello! Wonderful home design! Can I ask you the dimensions of the floor plan for the gabled part of the house that has the kitchen, study, and hearth as well as the 2 bedroomsΒ and narrow hall above? Even a rough figure will work. Thank you!

It's about 50' wide for main house. Gabled section is about 14' wide. Depth goes back to about 50'. May I ask what are you doing with it?

I was curious to know was the reason! We're looking to commission an architect at some point to design a carriage house to match the Victorian plan we're going to build and I am a major fan of your designs. I saw this one section of your house and it fit perfectly into what we were looking for. We will be looking to build in about a year and a half and I've been sort of admiring your plans from afar for some time. (I have no intention of breaching copyright if that is your concern. I would rather commission you if you accept commissions).

Certainly you can hire me! But what about the main house? Where's the plan for that coming from?

Good to hear! And the plan we have found for it is from Architectural Designs.com It's a 3-story Victorian at about 3,300 sqft. We plan to live in the carriage house apartment for 5 years after construction to save enough to build the main house. The carriage house will form the far wall of a large enclosed motorcourtΒ accessed by a porte cochereΒ through a covered walkway.Β
That house plan has nearly everything we're looking for but there are still some things we need addressed. I'm a bit on the fence about modifying this plan or coming up with a custom one from an architect like yourself. We would probably need to have all plans ready to go at the time of construction for the carriage house for surveying purposes. I could speak with you further over email or facebook, I follow you on facebook as well. But that is the plan thus far!

That's fine. Can you show me the Sketchup model? If you need to send a JPEG graphic via email, you can send to beauregard.francois@yahoo.com. Which house did you do?

That was an attempt at a huge house, but I will re-visit and re-do that plan I think. I want the main house to be more complex, not just a simple cross-gable design...

Piece by piece. They've moved large buildings before. In Detroit, they moved a small theatre I believe, but only a short distance. It's possible but expensive.

Cool. What city? I'm in Greenville, SC, just south of Asheville, NC. Building business is in bad shape here, as you can imagine...

Winston-Salem, yes houses are slow here as well. I saw the writing on the wall and got out before the fall. The company I used to work for is still open but just barely.
