Bali 2004Santika Beach Hotel
Back to my usual macros, I think this is one of the best shots I've taken to date. I really like the detail in this one, what do you think?

I used a Fuji S602, set on Super Macro. No tripod, this was all freehand. It was during the middle of the day and lots of light. This is my first digital camera, and the best photograph I've taken with it up till now.

you know, i once read a peanuts strip that informed me that a) some people call Dragonflies "Darning needles" and b) that said darning needles will sew your mouth up, so you better keep your mouth closed when they fly by or it's famine time for you..
in any event, this is a wonderful shot, you've captured the detail in the eyes and head beautifully, i don't know if the little rainbow effect s just an artifact from the lens itself, or a result of the eyes refracting the light, but it's a nice touch..
how many shots did you look at before you settled on this one? it sounds like insects are tricky beggars to shoot..

The refracting light is actually moire, which I didn't really pay much attention to until somebody pointed it out. It didn't take me that many shots to get it right, I guess because I was patient. I took around 20 shots from different angles and distances and this was my favorite.

Awesome!! The composition is almost perfect, i think that a more aligned shot could work better, and the exposition is very well too, altough that bit where the bug as it's foot, is a bit over exposed, but besides it, it's amazing, excelente macro, and awesome vivid colors, luv it
