What brushes do you use for the background? It has a watercolor look to it. O.o

Mostly default photoshop brushes, the 24 pixel spatter, the round angle low stiffness brush, and the hard round brush. I do a gaussian blur and run things through a "dry brush" filter before i start spattering colors around to get a more painted look

He look modern enough to be a tad bit futuristic. Add an antenna that links to those MAGIC RADIOS THEY CARRY BUT NEVER SHOW and (maybe, just maybe) some orange shades, and something awesome might be born!

That was always a strange thing with the radios... there is also the idea of electricity with light... but way back in the movie with the Snow ninja, there was already technology shown, so we know it exists... but still kind of weird.

Plus, air conditioning, ramen cups, boxed milk, i think I saw a refrigerator somewhere, and eye drops, the kinda tech that doesn't show up with ninjas.
Motorized wooden boats too, but no cars either. How strange :v

*shrugs* it is manga, and the universe was partially explained, but it never said it didn't have room for technological growth. Some parts of Asia are like that as well, very rural in some areas with little bits of technology here and there. It just fits the theme better overall I suppose.

I'd imagine how it all makes sense if you think of it from an outside perspective:
It's a doujin manga in an alternate universe, many things tend to be distorted for the purpose of storytelling
I'll have to admit that, because of the constant reminder of what ninjas are due to long-remembered ideas, it's still jarring to put one near anything remotely technological.
Good theme though, even if the technology tends to be applied phlebotinum at times :b
