The are absolutely adorable. Their round ears are probably my favorite part, next to the fun popping noises they can make when they know you are coming around the corner with their food

haha that is exactly what their ears make me think of I always have an overwhelming urge to touch them, but never got the chance while working with them. Ironically, I was able to get a lot more hands on with the Grizzly bears, then with the moon bears, or even the spectacled bears. Seems a little backwards haha.

Wow, how bizarre! They do look very approachable, though I bet the grizzly bears are just as awesome.

haha The grizzly bears are amazing :3 Something so large and powerful, and yet so intelligent!
We could hand feed the moon bears, but there wasn't much contact otherwise. Most of what we did was from a distance. Ziplining enrichment and stuff in, or placing it on exhibit, while they were shifted inside.
the grizzly bears we did a lot of training with, while the public watched. Demonstrating natural behaviors, as well as husbandry behaviors, and then inside, we could give them scratches through the fence and such. (grizzly bears are remarkably unpleasant to touch though. so wiry). We could also allow them to lick us, as well as spoon feed them things like peanut butter (was one of our ways of sneaking them pills ) and we had to use biodegradable spoons made from corn, as Emmett would sometimes eat the spoon o-o

haha the spoons were actually meant for the public, to be compostable, and reduce waste from the zoo. However, we regularly stole them from the zoo cafe to use with the bears
Emmett kind of took up a taste for them after that. haha.
Digger on the other hand, learned that spoons often mean Pills, and therefore became incredibly suspicious of anything we gave on a spoon. He was such a pain to medicate.
The moon bears were remarkably easy. Put it in a banana. Hand it to them. done.
(also, the grizzly bears wouldnt even touch bananas, whereas the moon bears got them every day). Grizzly bears will eat almost anything it seems, until you give them a Banana, or vegan fake meat. They won't touch those.
But yes, I miss those bears terribly. I'd go back to that job with them in a heartbeat if I could.
