A quick drawing I did to relieve my frustrations with how some people portray Denmark as a rapist who abuses and manipulates people and straight up asshole.
I just thought this whole 'INSERT HETALIA CHARACTER HERE IS A RAPIST.' thing was over, but apparently not...
Sorry.. I'm just really sad and heartbroken right now that people still do this.. And this art is kinda depressing..
But it really bothers me because all the Danes I've met are the kindest most coolest people you could meet. It bothers me so much to see him portrayed as such horrible things. He's a nice guy, and has a deep character to him.
I hope you guys don't mind while I sob in my emo corner for a day or two.
I don't enjoy making sad art.

But on subjects like these,it's really sad seeing others label the characters in a certain way when they're far from it. Denmark is nowhere near the things that people has said.

Like I don't mind people writing about dark stuff. But these topics like rape, abuse, and other things like that... they are sensitive subjects. What's sad is that most of these 'fanfictions' just use for their freaking OTP to get together. It's sad and sickening. And then they use a character and make them into a bad guy. If people really need someone to intervene with their OTP then... their OTP isn't really good.
I've probably only read at least one fanfic that touched around the abuse theme and it was actually good. But it was AU, so that's probably why xD
Still makes me sad that Denmark is now apart the : "THIS CHARACTER IS A RAPIST" club -_-

Yeah this sadly happens often in the APH fandom, not only to Denmark but they call France a rapist, Spain a pedo, Russia an evil monster, etc. These are just fan interpretations gone horribly wrong. People call Denmark this? I've honestly never heard of this but this is not cool. It's just like the situation with the BTT, it ain't cool. By saying this stuff about the character, it's like you are mocking the creator. Himaruya created these characters for a reason and by saying this stuff, in my opinion it's disrespecting him. To be honest, I don't mind people touching dark subjects in fiction.
After all it's an excellent way to commentate various things about humans and the more controversial parts of society.
but.
Only if it's done.. well.
And if it fits that kind of story.
I've read many a fanfics and various other fancreated material in the Hetalia fandom and only like... 1 actually got it right. Because it fit the story and subject matter, and it was well written.
The Hetalia fandom really should just keep away, because pretty much 99% of the people who create these kinds of things don't take the subject seriously and doesn't understand how it can be used to be effective in fiction. ._.
I mean, it's so out of character it hurts. Very few people can actually write out of character well. And if you can't do it you should definitely keep away from writing anything that falls into the dark category.

I don't mind dark subjects or controversial subjects either but as you said,
only if it's well done and the people actually know their stuff.
Rape is a very sensitive subject, and I've watched plenty of films that involved rape by now, but did so in a realistic manner.
Most people I've seen just use it as shock factor in their stories or as a way to get their 'OTP' together.
But nonetheless even if it's well portrayed, I still don't like seeing character from APH
portrayed as rapists, but yeah, that's just what I think.
