Actually, I have a Body-chan that reeeaally helps in figuring out messy poses and angles!
And the rest is just staring at the art on-and-off production and getting frustrated lol

I personally find them helpful for understanding poses in 3d!
It's much easier to study it when you can turn them 360 degrees.
Though they're not as flexible as the normal human body so not all poses work with them, that's my only con. c:
