Personally I love these little one page framing devices in the style of a scholar- they're useful for setting up differences between then and now when the mythology wouldn't make as much sense without it. This particular one is just awesomely thought provoking about changes in perception- gods don't get gifts because lords demand offering from servants, but because useful allies get much GRANDER gifts to keep them from going astray. Though since we know the gods from this series a little better I'm sure we have our own opinions on whether they deserve this honor... XD

Not much to say translation-wise except the word 'gift' is overused in this chapter and I'm going to be substituting in the different words English has that might seem more appropriate in various situations. This page used 'gift' constantly when 'offering' might be better in a 'gifts of fealty' sense.
