"He looked away for a second feelings tears brim in his dark eyes. He took a deep breath and forced them back, but as his eyes looked back at the couple, Lily's found his and they were suddenly locked in a silent exchange. Her smile faded and she started to look slightly uncomfortable.Severus had a look of lost hope sculpted across his narrow face, but his glance was broken by James, who looked from Lily to Severus. James' glance hardened into a dangerous glare. Severus did not fear this, however. He didn't fear James' torment any longer; he had nothing left to lose.
He looked down wearily, gathered his things and quickly made his way out of the hall.
Lily watched him exit with a suddenly pained and remorseful expression. "

I don't normally follow fanfiction, but this story captured me almost immediately. It's beautiful. Thanks for writing such an inspiring story....but GET BACK TO WORK AND WRITE MORE!!! XD leaving on a cliff hanger....oooooooooo. Xp

The intensity of my dislike of James fluctuates; he was definitely a total d-bag in his youth, whether or not that changed when he matured is up for debate as Rowling never gave us a clue as to his personality beyond Hogwarts. Severus and Lily are THE OTP as far as I'm concerned. XD

I didn't ship them in the books until HPB when he took her to Slughorn's party. They seemed to have a connection. I actually haven't seen the movies beyond the third mostly because I know exactly what's going to happen and that bothers me. XD
