Description
Name: Apache
Age: 221 years old, looks 29.
Gender: Male
Height: 189 CM
Species: Thunderbird
Ability(s):
- Storm Manipulation
A very passive ability in his fated form and much stronger in his true form. The beating of his wings creates storms, pulling clouds together and thunder sounding from every clap of his wings. An illusion of lightning dancing across the sky visible on them to hide his presence and also cloak friendly targets near him. The temperature may also drop several degrees when he uses this ability.
- Electricity Manipulation
Controlling and manipulating electricity/lightning to his will. Also his main offensive ability. He'll strike his enemies with lightning, depending on how weak or resistant his enemy is, the bigger the damage. May also be less or more effective depending on his environment, if he's near water or his enemy is in the water then you could say they're toast; Water conducts electricity.
His attacks in his fated form are weaker than his true form, despite that he sometimes has less control over it in his fated form, especially when he loses his temper.
- Electrical Immunity
Being a thunderbird and thus possessing the control of electricity, Apache is immune to getting shocks from anything electrical.
- Sonic Scream
An ability he only uses in his true form. A high pitched screech, sounding like an eagle's screech or a very bad thunderstorm, that has the power to deafen anyone in his presence for a while when not warned, including himself if he isn't too careful. He does not like using this ability and will also only use it far away from human civilizations so that he doesn't cause them harm. If used too often or too long, it can blow up eardrums or organs, including his own. This is more of a last resort.
- Regenerative healing
By absorbing electric energy (not the one that he produces himself), Apache can charge himself and heal faster. However, it takes a lot of electric energy to heal his true form, since his true form is quite large. In his fated form, it takes less energy to recharge and heal, but it's still not easy to get by. He'd probably need to be near a powerplant to accomplish instant regeneration.
Title: Guardian
Class: S-Class
Partner: Nicholas
Occupation: Full-time keeper, however if forced to, he'll help out at his parents' place. :I
Residence/Region: Western region
Personality:
If someone fits the description 'grumpy old man', it's more than likely this guy. Though his appearance might not say it, he sometimes does feel like he's too old to be dealing with half the shit he has to deal with. Mostly serious and perhaps tough in exterior, Apache doesn't beat around the bush. If he wants something done, he'll get it done. He'll trust that the recruits working under him do the same when it comes to their job as keeper.
He tends to come off as a jerk, this mostly because he has a very bad temper. It's something that runs in the family, and also something that thunderbirds are notorious for. It doesn't take a lot to annoy him, or get him to snap at you, but it does take a lot to get him truly angry. Something you might want to avoid, unless you'd like to get struck by lightning, which is also one of the reasons he prefers his sealed form over his fated form.
On the other hand, despite how grumpy and bad tempered he is, underneath that is a caring father-like figure, who only looks out for the people he cherishes and cares for. In need of advice? He'll do his best to give it to you. Insecure? He won't judge you, or put you down for something you might view as a weakness. He'll protect his loved ones with his life, even if it means losing his own.
He's very protective, perhaps overbearingly so, to the point where he practically hogs his family (mostly his kids). You could say he's like a Southern man sitting on his porch with a shotgun when it comes to that, except he'll be sitting on that porch with a bow and arrows that are most likely laced with poison. No one is allowed to defile his kids, so any future in-laws are warned for that. Approval does not come easy on that subject.
History/Description:
Born to Kawa and Topsana, Apache was their second child. He grew up in a relatively normal family, as far as normal could be considered being a mythos and all. His parents were keepers, partners too, so their family mostly lived in the Sanctum. Apache's parents were often busy with their task as keepers, thus resulting in both his brother and him being sent off to family on earth. Though Kawa and Topsana considered it safer in the Sanctum, how much they valued family over their job was clearly visible as they chose that option. So, with that Apache grew up knowing about both earth and his actual home.
At a rather tender age, he already knew what he wanted to be. With his parents set as a perfect example, and most of his family also having been in that line of job, Apache was determined to join as a keeper when he'd come of age. It was a goal he lived for, because it was something he grew up with knowing was important, and because he wanted to protect his family from any threat of danger. He decided that as soon as he'd get his powers, he would become a recruit. His older brother, Comanche, was a little more rebelious and he wasn't planning on joining as a recruit, but upon seeing his younger brother, he decided to wait until they were both of age to join him. That way it was more likely that they'd be paired up, being family and knowing each other through and through.
Growing up, Apache lived a very protected life, especially before he came of age. His mother was more prone on giving him the freedom he wanted, but his father tended to be a little overbearing and a little overprotective. You could easily compare Kawa to your neighbour waiting on their porch sitting with a shotgun to kill whoever their child would bring home. Perhaps his father was like that because his brother wasn't one to simply listen to the parental units, unlike himself. He would never understand until he'd probably have his own kids.
Either way, the moment he'd come of age at seventeen, the leash he was held on by daddy dearest was loosened quite a bit. He couldn't keep a hold on his little boys forever, especially not if they were to become great keepers like their parents were. So, upon discovering his newly found powers, the time came that both Comanche and Apache enrolled, a sign for both their parents to take a step back in the form of resigning. The two brothers were going to leave the nest, whether mom and dad liked it or not, that was just how it was, nothing that could change it. Kawa and Topsana decided that it was time they joined their family on earth, leaving their sons behind in the Sanctum.
At first, Apache had some trouble with his parents having left to become Watchers instead. Though he had the abilities to be accepted as a recruit, he was very much so attached to his family. More often than not, after training, the thunderbird would find himself visiting his parents (much to his brother's annoyance). Despite often visiting his family, Apache continued to train hard, determined to rise in rank so that he could get stronger and improve himself.
He doesn't quite remember when exactly it happened, or how old he even was at the time, but somewhere along the line when his brother and him had rose from rank to rank, they were eventually sent off to an important mission. It's a memory he doesn't want to remember. Comanche and him were prepared to take on the rogue they were assigned to, but the situation had been heavily underestimated by both of them, at least that's what Apache had thought. Whatever happened, it didn't go like it was supposed to. The rogue had managed to heavily injure Comanche, and Apache was next if it hadn't been for his brother. Before he even realized what had happened, the rogue was gone and so was his brother. The only thing left behind on the scene were the feathers Comanche kept in his hair along with his necklace of the Sacred Dagger.
With his brother gone, Apache was at a loss. How was he supposed to continue as a Keeper with his partner gone? Most of all, how was he going to continue without one of the most important people in his life. His brother meant the world to him, though opposites, they were like two hands on one stomach. There was a mutual understanding and a bond thicker than blood between them. To say he was left broken and in pieces was perhaps an understatement. What was he going to say or do when he returned? How was he going to tell his parents that their oldest was gone? So much went on in his head to the point where he had to force his thoughts to a stop, he had a job to do, he had to stay professional. So upon his return of a failed mission, he reported to the Chancel. The mission was deemed a failure, as he had expected, but the rogue was nowhere to be found and neither was his brother, which may have been something positive. Perhaps they'd both died, he wasn't too sure, but at least the Chancel granted him some time to mourn over his brother until he felt like he was ready to get back to work.
As if reporting to the Chancel hadn't already been hard enough as it is, bringing the news to his parents was perhaps the hardest task he'd ever done. Family was everything to them, Apache was aware of that far too well. There was a reason why their parents even gave them their names; so they wouldn't forget their roots and their family. After all, he may have been a Mythos, but those two tribes were also his family along with his own family. The Chancel was also part of their extended family, in a way.
Still recovering from injuries, Apache went down to earth to visit his parents. He couldn't stay holed up in the Sanctum, that was already questioning in itself, since he hadn't yet grown out of his habit of visiting his parents as often as he could.
The moment he entered the atmosphere in the room had already changed. He tended to drag his brother along with him after missions, but when both his parents saw their youngest all alone, expression grim, they knew that something had happened. He had never expected that it'd end up like this, always expecting that both his brother and him would resign at the same time because they were getting too old, but they had still been pretty young when they were separated. It was hard to deal with the loss, even with his parents there, he still tried his best to not let it get to him.
Eventually as time passed, Apache had learned to lock away those memories. It was no good to be reminded of them, he shouldn't live in the past, but move on to the future. His brother wouldn't have wanted him to mope around anyway. If anything, he should continue doing the thing he had always wanted to do, for his own sake and his brother's. He requested to return as a Keeper, hoping to be assigned with someone around his rank. To his surprise, he was reassigned to a new partner; his friend Nick. It was a pleasant surprise, because when the two had met he had already felt that he could trust the younger Keeper who he knew was capable of working together, with skills that could aid the both of them. It didn't always go well, but Apache was satisfied with his partner, perhaps even a little protective of him. He never spoke of his brother, but the protectiveness over Nick that he felt, or any of his other friends for that matter, were partly due to his loss.
The two of them worked hard, rising in rank until at some point they were offered positions as leaders of the Western Region. Proud of their accomplishments, Apache was more than happy to accept the offer. He'd done exactly what he'd wanted as a child, lived up to his dreams even if they weren't with his first partner. His parents were proud of him, even if his dad had gotten a little more protective of him after Comanche disappeared. Though his disappearance was still something that hurt him, Apache couldn't have wished for a better partner than Nick.
As years passed and the two of them were somehow still leaders, a certain thunderbird found a bundle of joy on his doorstep. A small baby, wrapped in cloth was left there. Though he couldn't quite understand how or why, Apache couldn't just leave the child out there. Despite being a Keeper, he decided to take care of baby Zane, whom would stay with his parents if he and his partner were assigned a mission. Over the years in the Sanctum, Apache has been seen as a father figure to many, to the point where he could probably start his own orphanage and adopt every child he may just stumble upon.
Additional Information:
- Apache feels most comfortable in his sealed form, this due to not completely being able to control his temper in his fated form and thus sometimes accidentally startling someone with thunder or lightning.
- Apache and his brother Comanche are both named after the tribes their parents originate from, his father being an Apache native and his mother a Comanche native.
- He probably has more kids than he's willing to admit, anyone who's been rejected by their own parents and a lot younger than he is will more than likely automatically be under his wing.
- His hair is really long.
- Voted to more than likely be like his dad; Your friendly neighbour waiting on their porch with a shotgun, though in his case a bow and poisoned arrows.
- Touch his kids and you're dead, basically.
- Also voted to more than likely run an orphanage in the Chancel.
- His brother and him were complete opposites in both looks and personality.
- His father is a thunderbird, while his mother is a deer woman.
- He has a son named Zane.
- Also considers Araseli and Elijah as his kids. Shhh.
- He's actually older than that he says he is... 221? Not his real age, but it's easier to remember because he'd be turning 222 years old. He stopped keeping track on his age at 200.
