I present a classic baby sitting misadventure for your viewing pleasure

"Have a great day at work hon" Eva said with a kiss on the cheek to Eva. "Thanks babes but are you sure you're good to watch him all day? I can totally find someone to watch him if you need me to" Kay said as she hurried to grab her last bit of items before she headed off to work. Eva stayed at home most days since her department never really went back to being in person after the pandemic. This made her the perfect candidate to babysit Kay's nephew Castor.

Cass was on summer break and preparing for 3rd grade in September. He didn't think he needed a baby sitter but his parents, Kay's brother and sister-in-law, thought otherwise.

"He will be fine. I will be fine. Also, you cant find another sitter this last minute anyway. Speaking of last minute, you are going to be late" Eva said bringing up the clock on the TV. She and Cass were going to start their morning watching cartoons while she did some paperwork on her laptop. Kay made a stressed noise and frantically grabbed her purse and keys from by the door. "Ok love you two and be nice to Auntie Eve Cass byeee!" Kay slammed the door behind her and pounding footsteps could be heard as she made her way to the elevator of their building. Eva let out a loving sigh at her partners antics and settled in to do some work.

Cass was bored. A horrible feeling for a 9 year old. All that had been playing for the past hour were reruns of Tom and Jerry. Dont get him wrong, Cass could appreciate the classics but he wanted some action. He sighed and played with his cereal. Auntie Eve typed on her keyboard behind him on the couch laser focused on her work. It was soooooooo boringggggg. The tempo of the show sped up with the beginning of another chase scene. Jerry bolted around a corner with Tom hot on his trail, only for Jerry to run back out before Tom could turn the corner. He suddenly had a comically large mallet with him and used it to smash Tom's foot flat to the floor. Tom's paw turned bright red and he let out an outrageous scream before hopping around the room. Cass huffed out a laugh. For a boring show, that was kinda funny.

Eva looked up for a moment to check on her nephew. He looked to be enjoying the show so far. She readjusted herself to dive deeper into her work, content with her quick check up. Cass noticed the movement and cast a quick glance in his aunt's direction. His eyes landed on her bare feet hanging off the arm of the chair she was laying in. He watched her toes wiggle and flex, glittering blue polish catching the light in the room. He got an idea. A terrible, bad, and awful idea.

No! Nope! Not gonna happen! Hurting people is bad, especially hurting your family. Watching people be in pain isnt funny, it's just mean! "Hey, you done with that buddy?" Cass was broken out of his thoughts by Eva grabbing his cereal bowl from the coffee table. "Oh uh, yeah thank you!" He said trying to shake the bad thoughts from his mind. "Its no problem at all bud! I know this was kinda last minute and I have work to do but I was thinking you and I could-" Eva dropped the bowl into the kitchen sink and continued to talk on her way until she was interrupted by the wall meeting her toes on her way back to the couch.

"OOOOOOOH OWWW MY TOES AHHHHH!!!!!!!"

Ok that was pretty funny.

Cass watched Eva grab her throbbing toes and hop around the living room in pain. He hid his snickers as best he could as he watched the show Eva performed.

Suddenly, that terrible, no good, very bad idea was back.

Maybe he could make this day a little less boring after all...
