Description this is how i picture these two. ya know how tonks
mentions in the 5th book how her dad is a slob?
plus, tonks had to get her clumsiness from someone;
and it wasn't about to be andromeda black. ha, yeah right.

this couple has NOT gotten enough attention.
and they're awesome.
i mean, hello?!

but, anyway, i love how 'dromeda totally
abandoned her family's views for ted. SO ROMANTIC!

jkr owns characters.

I love how Andromeda went to the Good Side and left the Black family.
Once again proves that there are plenty of good people in the Black family.

I always loved them because of the fact that she chose her love over her controlling family <3 I had to laugh tho. For the fact that a SLYTHERIN fell in love with a HUFFLEPUFF. I love your work and how you portray the emotions.

just to clear things up: Ted is not a Muggle. i know Bellatrix identifies him as a Muggle but that is because he is Muggle-born and, to the elite, Pureblood society, that means that he should not be and will not be categorized as a "wizard". if he is not a wizard in their eyes, then he must be a Muggle. i think they do not begin to consider someone a "wizard" unless both parents were able to wield magic; so, for example, while Ted will not be considered a wizard, Nymphadora would be considered a half-blood. she is already second-generation witch to Muggle lineage.

the best way that i can exemplify this is with immigrants. Say a Cuban family moves to America. the parents who were born in Cuba are considered cuban. the child Pepito, who was born in the USA, while technically american, is not identified as "American" - he will still be considered "Cuban" (even if we do hyphenate it to "cuban-american", we are still including that he is a "foreigner", "not like us"). it won't be until the next generation or the following that the "cuban" is dropped because the family has already been living here for generations.

anywhoo, point being that Ted is a Muggle-born wizard. i do not think his House was ever verified but i think most people are under the impression that he was in Hufflepuff, since Nymphadora was sorted into Hufflepuff and he would need the loyalty and patience to work with Andromeda Black, who was in Slytherin.

I remember Tonks herself saying that Ted is a muggle (can't recall if in Order of the Phoenix or in The Deathly Hallows) by comparing him to the Dursleys. It was something like "wow, this muggles are really clean (being at the Dursleys' kitchen), my father is a muggle and he's a slob" and etcetera.
By the way, the comparison with the ethnic idiosincracy in the USA is interesting ^^

Primigirl In reply to BelsanEmpress [2013-01-11 03:55:12 +0000 UTC]

No, I am pretty sure he was a Muggle-born. i think the quote is "My Dad's a Muggle-born and he's a downright slob". Also, he was running from the Snatchers, said he refused to register as a Muggle-born at the start, and then he said he mended Harry's rib, tooth, and arm at the beginning - definitely with magic because too much time would have had to pass for him to fix it as a Muggle doctor. i was pretty sure it was explicitly stated but maybe not; either way, i think there was just enough but there were enough clues that indicated he can use magic and is therefore not a Muggle.

Andromeda Black is Ted Tonks's wife, Nymphadora Tonks's mom, Bellatrix's and Narcissa's sister, Draco's aunt, and Lucius's sister-in-law. :] she is actually quite significant, in terms of character relations, without being important in the books at all...kind of upsetting really...

Hmm, I think he is a muggle - in the fifth book tonks tells harry that the the muggles (harrys aunt and oncle) where he lives are very clean but her dad, who is a muggle is a pig (yes, she sais he is a pig but in german, it sounds quite funny in english :'D) -> Beautiful picture, he is very cute oO

Primigirl In reply to Rukaija [2011-07-25 03:46:49 +0000 UTC]

nope, Ted is a Muggle-born. :] he was in Hufflepuff, like Nymphadora.
and you read the books in German? is the coverart very different from that of the BRitish English or American English publications?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Rukaija In reply to Primigirl [2011-08-14 20:05:51 +0000 UTC]

Okay, you are right - the book says (oh my, my translation will be funny :'D):
"Very clean, there Muggels, what?", says the which names Tonks, who was very interested in the kittchen. "My dad is a muggle-born and he is a very old pig (in german: richtige alte Pottsau, i think an internet translater give you a better translation xD). I quite different, event like magicans, right?"
I read them in english and german, the covers are amazing!

[link]

here you can see all covers I like the german ones but the British english too - but in german it gives just another cover, it is calles "Erwachsenen ausgabe" i don't know the english word now >.< not child, when somebody is older than 18... sorry^^

this is one of this covers

Primigirl In reply to Rukaija [2011-09-09 13:20:14 +0000 UTC]

lol!! in the English version, it is "he is a right old slob" :] we would not really call anyone a 'pig' out of affection; it's a pretty derogatory phrase. and the book covers are pretty cool! i love looking at all the different artwork. so did you read the books in german or english?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Rukaija In reply to Primigirl [2011-09-11 11:40:07 +0000 UTC]

Both, first one to four in german (I couldn't speak english while the time i read them xD) and five, six and seven first in english, then in German They are difficult to read because i never knew which words Rowling has found and which one are real english words xD (-> It was two years before, so my english was quite bad (Today it ist not very good to, but I can read books now ))

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Primigirl In reply to Rukaija [2011-09-13 14:57:52 +0000 UTC]

that's cool! i have been meaning to reread the Harry Potter books in Spanish but i have never really followed up on that inkling. and what did you mean when you sai that you could not distinguish "words Rowling has found" and "real English words"? you mean made-up nouns that Rowling created? like mythical beings and whatnot?
do you live in Germany, then?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Rukaija In reply to Primigirl [2011-09-17 19:40:48 +0000 UTC]

Are you Spanish or English? oO We don't learn Spanish here, if we don't do it by ourselves ;D
If I could speak Spanish I would read it - I wanted to read it in French but a year ago I decide to choose Physics and Chemistry (Again: Don't know if thats the right word) instead of French so I'm not very good at French... I think it's interesting to see the different styles which are in the same book - because of the translators.
Yes - that's what I meant! It's the same with the Lord of Rings books but they are even more difficult than Harry Potter.
I AM German But I want to go to Ireland after school for a year and perhaps I will last there

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Primigirl In reply to Rukaija [2011-09-18 21:55:38 +0000 UTC]

I am Cuban-American; i was born in the US but my family is from cuba. i was raised in miami - you have to know Spanish. even at the airport, some of those flight attendants would do better if you asked them questions in Spanish. and chemistry is the right word! you like science? i was always more interested and better in biology. chem is just waaaay too abstract and over my head.
and i would love to travel as well! i want to stuy abroad in Spain first but after that it really does not matter lol! Ireland is on my list (which is pretty long)
