Description OH GOSH, why are you guys looking at this?
Hahaha! Um...
Testing... TESTING!
----------

First time using Flash!
Watch this little thing here (complete with background music & sound effects) strut its stuff before I delete it for a re-edit!

Sketched traditionally on thin lined paper
Inked with Paint Tool SAI and animated with Flash MX's timeline

Sound effects from HB SFX collection, music from public domain & edited with Audacity

(Apparently, this runs at 18FPS in Flash. It only had 8 frames + 3-4 inbetweens)

Yay! I wanted to see more animation! Maybe we'll see a full feature animated film from you soon?

Nawww, I was just itching to try this out. (Not being literal!)
And... PSSH! Like that would happen.

Few months later-- headlines on Cartoon Brew stating:
16 YEAR OLD CARTOONIST CREATES FULL-FLEDGED ANIMATIC!

Nice work

(He only has one arm, by the way... which sort of justifies the swagger to his step. Am I the only one who noticed?)

Ooh, swag. Well, it's kinda unfinished, yeah?
Haha, thanks a bunch!

if you want to change the frame rate in flash, right click on the canvas and click the document proprieties option. there you can change the size, the colour and the frame rate :3 I dunno if thats what you meant when you said it only runs at 18FPS in flash but anyway!

its a very adorable animation ^^

That's kinda why it's in 18FPS, haha. (Sounds like I understated that)
The default frame rate that Flash sets the document in,(or in this case-- Flash MX), is 12FPS.

...For this animation, 12FPS turned out 'ta be very choppy. ._.

Haha, thanks a bunch 'fer the advice! May definitely help others who stumble across this o'er here.
+ compliment

Love the music, what is it?

Flash MX?! Wow thats old! I still remember when Flash and Shockwave were by Macromedia ten years ago.
A few tips for you, Old cartoons are generally at 12 frames per second but use a 2 step process where they double the frames up to make 12 frames per second in film's 24 frame per second format.
This meant the animators could be lazy, but having it at 24 frames meant you could add extra frames to fast moving items to make it smoother.

PAL is 25 frames per second and the U.S.'s NSTC television format is 29.97.

Also I'm not sure if MX has the onionskin mode for frame by frame animation, as I believe that you do have a graphics tablet that you could use to animate quicker.

Very nice~
A walking cycle is the hardest thing I've ever tried animation-wise.
I intend on sitting down one weekend and getting it right!

"A walking cycle is the hardest thing I've ever tried animation-wise."
Haha, 'bout that other thing 'ya said, thanks a bunch! This took me 30 minutes to sketch, an hour to ink in SAI + fix errors & eleventy-bajillion eons in table flippin' Flash. Good luck with Flash!

BTW, that little thingie I quoted from you implies you've done some animation before.

LEMME SEE

First time using flash too!
Um, question-- how do I shrink this thing? For a little guy walking, this is pret-ty big.

I'm sorry, I have no idea. >: I don't have too much knowledge in Flash.
And if it's your first time in it, then nice job! 8D
