As much as it sucked for thier generation, i think alot of people would agree that some form of compulsory service (maybe not solely military), but something should be brought back.

It would give the American populace something to cherish and value, the service to their fellow man instead of a "Semper I" Attitude.

What branch was your father in if you don't mind my asking?

1969-1970...My dad was drafted in 1969 and sent to Vietnam in 1970.

Ah. One of my uncles was drafted... He died out there in a helicopter crash. :/ It sux I never got to know him.

That's too bad What did he do there? A grunt? My dad was a door gunner in a helicopter.

Wow...maybe they were really close to him and don't like to remember that he died there. It was a really controversial war, so maybe that's why...hmmm...

They still won't tell me... They just tell me that he died in a helicopter crash. It's like a big family secret or something. They REALLY don't like to talk about it.
