We've all witnessed such situations.
All of us, whatever the place, the restaurant, bar or club we've been in.
I even think we all thought the same like, "OMG, they're together without being together." I would push until saying it happened we were... them?!
I really enjoy your shot for this reason: a very well achieved photography of such a contemporary and modern instant for couples.
The composition is perfect.
Are we sure it's a coffee room?
Eventually how far is going technology in our relationships?
Aren't we getting altered deeply in our ways to behave with one's another?

The soft colors, the mirror effect and the way the symmetry is done (I know now you like a lot symmetry e.deviantart.net/emoticons/r/r… " width="15" height="15" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="397" title=" (Razz)"/>) gives a whole beautiful dimension to this humanist shot, depicting what can happen now so often.
Aren't we loosing how simple is the direct contact, and that our modern stuff will never replace our fifth sens (and more!) when dealing with being with someone.

Well done Monsieur! A great shot!

Thank you for the detailed critique!!

I like the questions you pose: they are not judging only asking about how technology is changing our lives. It could be for better or for worse.

Thanks again!

All too true nowadays, funny thing is no one really admits it. Or they do and really don't care.

Yeah. When I'm with people I love I try to avoid the phone. But sometimes I just take it out without thinking.

Speaks so to how people aren't involved in the world outside their 'phones'

There's a lot going on in the phones. And the gratification is so much more instantaneous.

What a great catch!  I actually recently purchased a magazine/book called "Drift" that was about Japanese coffee shops.  Quite fascinating, but I haven't had a chance to read it yet.  This photo reminded me of that because of the coffee connection.

The coffee shop looks really nice.  Perhaps a bit fancy?  Have you ever ordered anything from there?

burningmonk In reply to FarisKalin [2015-07-24 06:22:21 +0000 UTC]

This coffee shop is an old school chain that's decorate in a style that was popular during the bubble economy in Japan.

And you mean this magazine, right: driftmag.com/

I suppose they're two strangers. Who the heck would text the person next to them?

burningmonk In reply to FluffyLover1986 [2015-07-24 05:50:54 +0000 UTC]

Nah, they are a couple but they are not texting each other. They are both lost in their digital worlds.

FarisKalin In reply to FluffyLover1986 [2015-07-15 05:12:23 +0000 UTC]

True, but that does make one think about the technological integration of society nowadays.  This is why I don't text when I'm eating with other people.  Focusing on the here and now is important.
