For what I artistically crave, this is one of your strongest recent works.Β The bare hints of red, blue and yellow on an otherwise B&W photo echo the organic figure to the man-made surroundings. It's like a remnant of nature in an unnatural environment.Β I also like that it makes me image who is inside the doors, or re-imagine what is ahead. (Maybe it is the light arching up and away, but reflected on the door, and in the smoke, that brings me to that idea...)
Of course, the composition is strong: softs and hards, lights and darks, patterns and asymmetry. De-focused, this is beautiful as well.

Thank you! This is one of my favorite photos that I've ever taken. I want to include it in a book some day. The way the light and the smoke seem to be one and the same; the dilapidated environment contrasted with the man's suit; a sense of nostalgia of a time gone byβI enjoy all of these aspects of this shot.
