It is quite small, but not claustrophobic. The single large window lets in lots of light. And the interior is all white. So it feels quite airy.

Yeah, I wish they would renovate it. it certainly would be expensive, but worth it. But yes, it's just not considered a landmark. I feel the Japanese in general have a very narrow idea of what tourists like about this place, in particular Tokyo. I fear that in a few decades Tokyo will become a shadow of its former self, very sanitized and lacking it's vibrant character. The loss of Nakagin would certainly be a nail in this coffin.

I don't think they do! It was originally built nearly 50 years ago and no capsule has ever been replaced.
