Discovery is by far the most non-Star Trek of all the series.

There’s lots of reasons.

For me, the worst one is that the characters are written as though they are all emotionally fragile teenagers and not as professionally trained adults in military.

If any military officer demonstrated the bizarre behavior and whiplash personality changes of the Discovery crew, they’d be in front of a review board, not promoted.

No one has the guts to say what is wrong with ST Disco. The original ST crew, Rodenberry’s idealist future aside, guys like Kirk Spock and McCoy worked because they were based on the kind of protagonists, race, or relevance aside, who went into bad situations and fought and died for truth. When it aired, things like WWII and Korea were still in memory’s reach. But more importantly the writers who penned those first classic episodes, while tuned into their own sixties’ counterculture vibe, were also keenly aware how to craft a proper Sci Fi genre warrior knight.

To illustrate my point without a lot of babble, let’s put it this way.

Take a real-life combat situation where everything is on the line and only cool, fearless cunning can prevail; and instead of Seal Team Six, we drop in the crew of Discovery, weeping and hugging to save the day. How safe would you feel?

The crew of the Orville, may act silly sometimes for comic effect, but there’s no doubt they are adults engaged in a mission that must be taken seriously when required.

Discovery is the worst Star Trek series PERIOD !

This is supposed be Star Trek….but what we have are characters who act like high school students without a clue.

No question- flat characters, no development at all. No problem with some diversity but don’t you think you over did when it is all about SJW??

Hard to believe This is directed by Johnathan Franks.

Some episodes were so full of flaws, SJW content, bad writing and often bad directing (horrible directing except with a guest director), I had rather watch an episode of….HGTV than this drivel!!

Oh course this is just my opinion… what is yours?
