In the humanised SLOTLT, Captain has to rescue Skiff when he threatens to drown from fatigue in the morning. He quickly passes him back to the medics on the boat, and gets to work with trying to flip the boat over, no other thoughts cross his mind. Now at this point, they're merely acquaintances and will be so for a good few years - nothing more yet. Age gaps are ok, but at this stage it wouldn't be.
