My new mum, butterscotchbob, has just adopted me.

I am a 10yr old BSH tortoiseshell rescue cat and have had a hard life.

I was found wandering the streets 155 miles away from here.

The vets checked me out and found out I have FIV. It is the feline equivalent to HIV. It can't be passed on to humans, only other cats.

I spent quite some time in isolation in the rescue centre. I couldn't make friends due to the risk of passing on the FIV so I only had human contact.

I have been used to being an outdoor cat all my life but due to FIV that could no longer be. The rescue centre really didn't want to put me down so they waited to see how I'd react to being indoors only. Thankfully I took to it really well, as long as I had plenty of fuss and a warm lap I was happy.

At the rescue centre they checked my health and found some bad teeth so I had to be put under to have 5 teeth out, ouch! I coped with it really well and recovered quickly.

I was minding my own business having a snooze one day when a snuggly hand began smoothing my head. It was butterscotchbob, Zara. We immediately got on, I nuzzled into her hand again and again and she whispered to me "it's love at first sight" and called me beautiful.

A week later she took me to my new forever home.

I have now been here nearly 2 weeks and am settling in really well. I still haven't left Zara's side, only to have a bite to eat or a tinkle, I have mainly been cosy and secure on her lap, or right next to her on my blanky.

I am still feeling unsure and a bit insecure but my new mum doesn't mind. She said it will take a while for me to realise I'm not going anywhere else. I've been so used to moving! She said she has all the time in the world to have me on her lap until I feel ready to explore. Wish me luck!!
