Story: Samus BuzzcutI’ve done something… spontaneous today. I’m not quite sure if I regret it. My mission wasn’t anything special, just take out the target and get out. But during the entire thing I couldn't help but notice my hair pressing up against my helmet. Usually I don’t notice my ponytail when armored up, but this mission it was particularly frustrating. It is very long, and my hair is pretty thick, so I suppose it’s no surprise. I’ve had my fair share of the galactic federation telling me I should cut it. I usually just brush it off as banter though. admittedly no one there has hair longer than their shoulders, including other women. I think I was starting to see what they meant. I took off my helmet to see it was pressed up against my head in a very awkward fashion. It was flattened and tangled, which isn’t uncommon. I normally spend a good portion of my downtime caring for it, but recently I’ve felt less inclined to do it. These missions are exhausting after all. I feel like something snapped inside me when I saw my matted ponytail. Enough was enough. I walked into the bathroom, Took out my ponytail for the first time in probably a week, and started searching my cupboards. My ship came with a bunch of essentials, some I’ve never used before. One I’ve definitely used is the hairbrush, which I found no problem. Buried under more items though was a brand new pair of hair clippers. They’d get the job done that’s for sure. I got both those out. I quickly brushed my hair out a bit. I wasn’t nearly as thorough as I usually was, as this was just making sure I didn’t snag while cutting. Seeing my hair smoothed out definitely made me think twice about doing this. It’s been this long for probably decades at this point. This is going to be a big change. Not long after though I decided I wasn’t about to back down from this. I turn the clippers on. I don’t normally admit these things, but the sound was rather startling. A very sharp clack sound followed by a loud, steady hum. It didn’t really help that I was already hesitating. I’ve already made up my mind though, this hair is coming off. I pushed back my bangs with on hand, holding them up so I had a clear shot to my hairline. I place my clippers on my forehead, right before my hair starts. After a push I was mowing through my hair. I could see in the mirror how my bangs were being pushed back further, no longer connected to my head. I lowered the clippers and to a look at the damage. A guard must have been attached, as it was a little bit longer than I anticipated, but honestly I liked how it looked. Of course now there was no going back, unless I wanted to keep my helmet on for the rest of my days. Right next to the patch of short fuzz I’d just cut, I made another pass with the clippers. Pretty soon all the long hair on the top of my head was replaced with short, uniform fuzz. I buzzed the sides, exposing my ears and all I had left was the back. Admittedly this took longer than I wanted. As I only had one mirror, but I don’t feel any long hair right now so I think I got it all. Once it was all off I realized I hadn’t looked up at my reflection barely at all during the whole thing. I stepped back and saw myself fully for the first time, with all the hair once on my head now in the sink. The first thing I noticed was how much lighter my head felt. I also noticed just how much more exposed my face was. I didn’t even know how much my hair covered it. Writing this honestly confirms to me this was the right thing. I’m glad I did it. I put my helmet on and for once I didn’t have to worry about how my hair would sit in it. I feel much more ready for the next mission.,

To celebrate officially returning to This page, I thought it’d be fun to remake the first drawing I posted on here. Samus buzzing her hair in her ship’s bathroom. I made the background in blender as well as used some stock images. I’m very happy with this one! I’m definitely thinking about remaking other drawings in the future.
