Yeah, I know the writers/developers have said that in hindsight, they wished they hadn't drawn attention to the respawn function by having the New U stations talk, etc. because it sort of breaks the player's suspension of disbelief when certain NPCs are killed, even though they were previously playable characters and thus should be in the New U station, etc.
