The horse looks nice, I like the detail in the dapple coat and the illusion of movement in the mane and tail. The edges in general look very cut, there seems to be none of the natural softness that is apparent in the rest of the painting. This is especially apparent in the hooves. The man is the biggest draw in your painting: the posture of his legs make it look as if there is no depth to the horse, they should be turned outwards to look as if he's actual riding the horse as opposed to simply standing. The arms are too short and the hands look like they are set on top of the reigns as opposed to holding them. Additionally there appears to be a layer on top of the horse's chest strap. The background could use work, it seems like an afterthought.
Over all, the horse is the focal point and looks as such and the man could use some work to make him seem more realistic.
