Hmmmm, well... I like to always go with what first comes to mind. At first glance, it seems that he is trapped in his own mind. But, obviously not in a good way. Finding his right frame of mind, is like finding a needle in the haystack. Why? Simply because you placed the needle on his head, the image of the mental haystack.

Interesting idea.
I can see where you get it from. It's mainly influenced by the feeling I get from the emotion and words inherent to the song. It may seem silly, but I try not to over-think when I make a good deal of my art, so whatever comes out tends to be more stream of consciousness then anything else. I do see what you mean with the frame of mind. I think a lot of us struggle with that in some way and pinpointing that even in one's own mind can be a veritable haystack.
