I wanted to do an actual background no matter how bad it turned out, so here it is. Still going for a toonish look but is it really?The rope has steps on it okay, do you see them? Good!

indeed, I thought they were climbing down some little ledges but it turns out those ledges aren't so little after all! I just hope mr. mole does not interfere.
