I grew up in "Tornado Alley"Β The state of Oklahoma is part of that area and I can remember sitting on my grandmothers porch and watching them form and drop down from the sky, and then we would get into her old fruit cellar, until the the danger was over.Β I actually get excited by the weather when it is like this.Β I guess because I always knew I would be protected, and can be protected from tornadoes, for the most part.Β When the sirens go off, I am outside searching the sky for it, not in a shelter.Β
I envy my brother being able to do that too!Β He is a superb photographer of storms and clouds, lightning and tornadoes.Β He manages NebraskaStormChasers on Favebook if you are interested you can see some ofΒ his amazing pictures there.

Oh, darn!Β Hmm,Β mild breezes?Β Aren't you below sea level over there?Β I would think that would affect the kind of weather you have.Β

Yup indeed 6 meter below sea level but we don't have hurricanes or tornado'sΒ ..
With climate change rainfall and floodings are more often and they worsen ..
I looked for the hardest gust of wind in the Netherlands and it was 173 km/hour measured in November 2005.

You still would need some big rocks in your pockets to keep from getting airborne!Β That is strong enough to do a lot of damage.
