That's my absolute favourite of all your picturesΒ Β
Let me guess - some moments later you had an armful happy wet dog trying to climb you

I do remember this day as if it was yesterday ..it was a very special moment for me and my dog. And of course Β I am really happy with the picture to share the moment and happily look back at that moment!
The dog on the photo sadly past away a few moths ago but she gave so much that I did get a lifetime of memories from her.Β
ps. She was a accelent swimmer so never had the happy wet dog climb thing experience

I made this experience once.
A friend of mine and me, both owned by a shepherd dogs, went for a swim in a bathing lake. Although beeing a miserable swimmer I let her lure me into swimming across a smaller part of the lake.
We had made it halfway when I felt the paws of my girl scratching down my backside, dipping me under water. Telling myself "Don't panic. Stay calm. And you better not breathe as long as you under water!" I came up with an eloquent "urghs!" - just to find my dogΒ Β immediately trying to climb me again.
That was the first and only moment in my life I hated my sweetie to the core. Thinking 'if someone is to drown here it will not be me!' I shoved her away. She tried again - I shoved again.
Some mouthfuls unfiltered, well used bathing lake water later my friend was here to my rescue. Explaining "she does't realize you're not vertical as usual, but horizontal now." she pulled my girl away and some meters with her, heading for her own dog who was determined to enter a surfboard...Β
I made it to the other side just in time before my girl succeeded to catch up with me and finish her work. With the last of my strengthΒ I reached some roots, silently cursing the idiot standing at the riverbank and interested watching me fight for my life. Holding on to the roots I fineally relaxed and let my feet sink down in hope to find ground to stand on. I sank about 30 cm. Really. My dog was walking the last meters out of the water.
It was embarrasing.

What a adventure .. happy everyone was alright and that there were no drowning people or dogs ..
It was a smart thing to stop breathing underwater, you saved your lifeΒ
But I think nothing to be ashamedΒ of .. no one was hurt in the end and your friend was right that
your sweetie sure had not the intention to drown you .. never the less it must be a scary moment.
I learn dogs swimming and although they never drown me, I had lots of scratches in the process but the
happy swimming dogs in the end keep me going .. swimming is so good and fun for dog and owner
(if no drowning or scary moments are there to screw it up) ..

Yes, swimming with a dog is something that makes both swimmers happy!
Even if one of them is still as excellent as a ehm... drowning potato.Β

I LOVE this picture. German Shepard eyebrows crack me up. Artistically, I love how the camera is level with this pup's face. It infers a little bit of "being on the same level" with man's best friend. That and only focusing on the dog shows that, well, he's all the only thing that matters in this. All in one's interpretation! Great job!

You have a real good sense of focus on your pet, and some lovely colours in the background to further enhance the look. Good timing brings a nice, natural motion to the shot as he/she swims towards you, creating nice little waves which again adds a lot to the picture. And I sure can't fault how beautiful your pet looks... I've always loved dogs, especially German Shepherds.
An adorable shot I'm sure many besides myself will love, so nothin' else to add except great work! Hope to see more!

Aw, cute! I bet she had a lot of fun swimming! (Oh, how I wish I had time to take a swim with my dog, but nooo, school.) Tell me, how often did she manage to swim right into your face before you could take that picture? (My dog does. He wants to sniff or take a bite off the camera all the time -.-)

Thank you so much. hahaha yup school it was not my favorite time eitherΒ
To tell you the truth not ones she swim in to my face not even a scratch but I already have swim a lot with her without the camera. And I always take the time to let dogs get used to the camera before I get to the actual shooting. With a little training I certainly believe you can tell every dog not too bite in the camera and it is way to expensive for me to fail that

It is definitely a beautiful world underwater and a big challenge to capture it all. I have a SLR camera and the hard casings are very expensive for me but with a back (DiCaPac WP-S10) it's made affordable.
The biggest problem for me now is to find clear enough water to make my shots (underwater) but when the dogs are swimming I can stand next to the splash without fearing a wet camera ..although it stays a little scary with my expensive camera to dive a little deeper without fearing a leake So to conclude if you have the resources go for it it is definitely a great challenge
