Description
I NEED YOUR HELP. yes, YOU!I don't usually post WIPs, but I'd love some opinions about how to proceed.
So you can probably see the faintly sketched outline of the wings how I have them now. Do you guys:
1. like them as is
or,
2. do you think the ends of the wings should turn down (kind of arc down the way her back arcs down, instead of pointing outwards as they are drawn right now)?
I don't know if that makes any sense. I'm not sure which way I like better for the wings, so give your opinions please! Hope you guys like it so far
Is it just me, or does the word "opinions" look really weird spelled out? uhhh

I think the direction of the wings can add to the emotion you're trying to achieve with this artwork.
Up would be a little more happy as opposed to wings turned/pointed down, which make the subject look sad.
For me personally, I would love to see the wings down, following the curve of her back. Kind of like the wings of a guardian angel would, as though the wings are trying to envelop her in a comforting way.
But it's your decision obviously!
I agree "opinions" is a weird word, always makes me think of onions

i think up or down would work.. if they go up it seems kinda like she upset even though she should be happy.. and if they go down then shell look more fallen.. but i think they could be bigger, or longer (haha thats what she said)

haha yes! A 'that's what she said' joke! Don't see many of those on dA, and it's a damn shame.

The primary(flight) feathers would probably be as long as her back...you can have the leading edge of the wings going up with the primaries starting along the line of her back...or arcing down and to the left across that fabulous cloth...then radiating out to the right. Why don't you make some copies of what you have, and try it several different ways...including no wings at all, but a background of dark curtains and dark satin upholstery. Pick out the one(s) that look the best and do the finished drawing.

Amazing attention to details! but I do have a question for YOU: what technique do you use to draw the hair?

thank you!
umm I'm not really sure how to explain it. I kinda just, shade it in sections of dark and light? and then blend a little bit. haha that probably makes no sense.

Looks like I'll be the only one so far to say I'd prefer them as is
By that I mean them pointing outwards; I think that looks great, but they could be a good bit bigger if you ask me.
Would give a bit different feel to the whole image I think, if they turn down.

WOW!! <-- I would make that bold if I knew how. This is amazing. As for the wings, I think they look great. If you decide to have them turn down I think that would be great also. You are so talented, you can't go wrong.

I would definitely prefer them down and perhaps more winglike: such as a falcon wing. I realize it's a work in progress but I checked out your other art and didn't see that you draw them with bird-like wings. I think that would be very pretty

Looking beautiful so far! I can't believe how amazing the details on her skirt looks! I also agree with everyone else that the wings would look better suited pointing downwards. Going by the angle of her body, it would just compliment the composition, and add a sort of symmetry by sort of "framing" her body, if you get what I mean
(Opinions does look funny written. Makes me think of onions )

thank you! yeah I agree about how it would compliment the composition. I've decided to change it, now I'm just trying to figure out how to make them look good haha.

I think with the body angel, arcing downwards would probably be more appropriate to convey your emotion. But Wow... it's beautiful already!
