I don't interact with the fanbase much so that's so strange to me! D: because Papyrus is... not like that at all??? He's a VERY tough boss (the only one I NEVER managed to beat in the end) and also the one who basically takes care of the house, cooks, feeds the pets, goes to work on time, interacts the most with the other monsters and if someone ever tried to mug him in an alley he'd probably break the person's leg before carrying them to a hospital, lecturing them as he did so? I can't see him as incompetent or a baby at all.
He's oblivious to a lot of things, is very naive and has too much faith in other people to a dangerous degree at times, but he's not... stupid.

Extremely well said, my friend! And I'm not kidding when I say that finding someone who interprets Papyrus this way is relatively rare in fandom circles, at least when it comes to content creators. Most people focus exclusively on Sans when it comes to the skelebros, and either leave Papyrus out of everything entirely, kill him off so that Sans can angst about it, or make him utterly incompetent so Sans looks better, and it gets really old, really fast, lemme tell you. >.< This is a lovely analysis about both brothers that puts it all a lot better than I can, which should be required reading for everyone in the fandom before they go forth and create fanworks imho.

Thank you very much And yeah, that really is surprising to me D: because... that's so not his character at all?? The whole point in the game is it makes you think he's a pushover who's not good at things before you suddenly realise he IS very strong and skilled. Which is why it's such a good boss fight and a surprise and makes him far more interesting. Even Undyne says Papyrus is strong! So I don't understand that at all.
And if you can only make Sans seem cool by making Papyrus seem weak then... wel... you're not putting enough effort into writing, I think? or you're being unfairly cruel because you like one character more than another character. So you sacrifice a character's personality for your own desires. And that's not fair.

Thanks for the link, but I think I'll give it a miss. I'm very cautious on letting outside influences affect how I write the characters. I want to rely on my own strengths and interpretations and write how I see them and their relationships with each other and the other characters. But thank you all the same!

Agreed, agreed. And that's my feelings exactly. A lot of people are kind of lazy when it comes to making UT fics and AUs, and ONLY focus on their favorite character (aka Sans) instead of on the world and other characters of UT. I mean, people can have their faves, that's fine, but these characters don't exist in a vacuum. One of the things that makes the cast of UT so interesting is their relationships with each other. I wouldn't like Undyne as much if she wasn't such great friends with Papyrus, I ship the goat parents to hell and back, Toriel and Sans' friendship is adorable, etc. And then there are some AUs that consist solely of different versions of Sans. B\ Fandom... we need to talk.

Perhaps I'm looking in the wrong places. It seems like the "Papyrus is virtually incompetent without Sans" content outnumbers it by 4:1 a lot of days. So I'm always glad to see good content that doesn't flow that way!

I dunno. Like I said, I don't really interact with the fanbase that much outside of a few very select things. But I don't think Papyrus is incompetent at all >.> Considering he's the only boss in the game I never managed to beat. He's Naive, gullible and oblivious to a lot of things, but not incompetent.
But anyway, yeah we're gonna get a lot of Papyrus in this story ;w; so I hope you continue to enjoy how I write him.

Thank you so very much ;w; I love how much they care about each other. I think people seem to think Papyrus criticizes Sans because he's honestly annoyed by him, but to me it's VERY obvious in the game that Papyrus adores his brother. He talks about him all the time, talks TO him all the time, and seems to genuinely rely on him a lot. And it's obvious they do EVERYTHING together. Or at least that's what Papyrus thinks... Sans has a lot of secrets.

I completely agree. You really hardly see them apart and It's obvious they both care a lot about each other in the game even is Papyrus does occasionally get annoyed by Sans's silliness. You establish their relationship perfectly in the comic while making them stay in character as well as making them giving them their brotherly tendencies they have. I love seeing Papyrus go out of his usual character when he is worried about Sans, because I feel that's how he would really react. I also like how you made Papyrus say "you never tell me anything" in a more recent page and he's actually upset about it. We know there's a lot Sans doesn't tell him. It's all really well done and it just makes the comic even more great, I'm always excited to see the next page
