it took me far too long to find a version of this song I actually found acceptable. Even Natalie Cole's version is noooot really a 100% perfect for what I feel the lyrics need, she's as close as I found. Oh well.
This was suppose to be quick but it's so cold my hands won't work properly and took far longer than it should have.

Lots of people wonder why sans is always smiling. Some believe that his mouth is physically stuck that way. I kinda like the idea that he's always smiling to push through his sorrow, and so that he won't make the others around him sad my being sad himself. This picture really captures that. Thank you.

I try and avoid as many fan-theories as I can because I sometimes find they can muddle my perception of canon. And really, it is canon which I enjoy the most. With anything. It's why I'm a fan of it, right?
Althought Sans' expressions is very minimal in how it changes it the game itself, however, as an artist I like giving him varied expressions, within reason, despite him not showing that much versatility in the game. However, his smile is always a default. But Sans is one of the characters in the game who, more than any other character, hides his true intentions and emotions. He keeps his cards close to his chest. And what better way to disarm people and keep them from guessing what you're really thinking or planning than smiling?
But because Sans also carries some amount of pain in him, depending on how you play the game, the smile is also a coping mechanism. Or maybe I'm overthinking this and it's just because he's a skeleton.
At the end of the day I drew this because I've been having a bad time lately. (no pun intended).
