“Hey! Gaara-sama!” [Name] called. She burst into his office and caught him by surprise as she nearly jumped over his desk with excitement and began to go on about the MOST unbelievable thing that had happen to her that day. Even though he had work to do, he smiled back weakly and listened to her with keen interest as she went on.

She never changed. He could remember the day that they first met. It was a few years ago when she first moved to Suna after the Chunnin Exams. She was strange and no one talked to her at first, because of her quirks. She wore heavy clothing and sweats instead of robes or any other heatstroke avoidance clothing and she loved to speak her mind about every little thing whether she meant it or not. She wasn’t afraid to be herself or talk to anyone.

It was when he was walking on the path, alone like usual. Most of the villagers avoided him, stepping out of his way as he walked by, but her, she continued crazily and excitedly down the street, spouting enthusiastic cheers about her new home and didn’t notice when she almost ran into him.

She caught him by surprise when he wrapped her arms tightly around his shoulders and pulled him into a friendly and honest hug. His body immediately stiffened when she did so and his breathing became ragged. He wasn’t sure what to think as the strange girl held onto him, releasing him slowly with a smile.

She chuckled, “Sorry. I was just really happy,” she apologized with a dorky grin,” besides you looked like you could use a hug.” She explained.

He nodded slightly, standing still as she continued with her one sided conversation,” Though, my mom said it wasn’t good to hug strangers,” she laughed, “Oh, and to never trust a man in a big white van!” She added.

“Gaara-san! Are you listening?” His sea foam green eyes focused on the girl that sat on his desk with the same goofy grin that he remembered from before.

“I’m listening, [Name].” He responded softly.

She cocked her head at him, “What’s wrong?”

“Nothing.”

“Oh, I must be bothering you. Huh?” she asked, standing up from his desk and heading towards the door. She frowned sadly, feeling rejected. She started shakily, “I’ll see you later Kazekage-sa-“ she felt his hand grip her wrist and pull her to him. “What?” she asked a bit shocked as she pulled away.

He smiled, “You look like you need a hug.”
