A new year….and a new mermaid! This is Maya, a clownfish mermaid who is actually the sona of MerMaya. She’s one of a few new friends I came across online, last year.

So, Chris was cruelly chucked into the ocean - AGAIN - but this new face saves him by fending off the carnivorous fish with a special diamond. I saw this same diamond in Maya’s hands in another art and I thought it’d be useful for this comic, so I came up with the headcanon that it could pull off projective illusions.

Unfortunately, Maya wasn’t strong enough to get the chains off of me, so while she thought about how to free me….you guessed it, she decided to have some fun with me, instead. X3

Just to clarify though - and it was a request from the sona-owner when I asked for permission to draw her - this won’t be an ongoing romance between the two.
Maya actually already has a girlfriend. And it’s a Pokemon, oddly enough! I think the species is….a Fenniken. Well, close to a Fenniken. (Shrug)

It feels great to draw my stick-self having some mishaps with mermaids in the sea, again. More of it coming, soon.
