Oh, Sonic. Look at what you've started.

There I was, researching your 20th anniversary game and then I thought, What if other infamous characters with pre-incarnations did the same thing? So I've drawn how Pikachu would have looked like 15 years ago and also drew how he would normally come out in my drawings in order to compare the twosome. (And I'm considering other Game heroes, too!)

The differences? Modern is more furry and realistic whilst Classic looks smooth and less pointy, having the same head shape as he did in the Ruby/Saphire era.

Some say that even if most fictional characters are age-less, their appearance still change. Maybe even the GAMEPLAY.

Classic: Like in both the main series and most spin-offs, Pikachu is seen via birds-eye-view, being chased by wild Pokemon and, if caught by them, engages into turn-based 'Mystery Dungeon' like battles.

Modern: Being seen in the 3D perspective, Pikachu runs and gallops freely, head-bashing and shocking any wild Pokemon who gets in his way. The gameplay is similar to Pokepark Wii.

Sigh, if only Nintendo hadn't taken a wrong turn makin Pokepark a younger kids' game...
