“Ales—!”
She called out for her sister, panic ensuing as she frantically thought back to the last moment she could have lost her. Back to where she had last seen her—
But then she heard what sounded like the trill of a cat, and looked over in surprise at the noise. Slitted eyes looked back at her, leering in an almost wrathful sense.
Perched around the shoulders of the mall’s newly molded and sculpted religious effigy (which was creepy in and of itself) was an off—putting black cat. The force of its leering brown—amber eyes seemed almost enough to knock her to her knees, which were beginning to quiver out of her control.
