Description I am always afraid to send the sketch to one of my commissioners and he/she doesn't understand how is the difference between a sketch and the final lineart.

So, finally I got the opportunity to show the progress of a sketch to the final line:
1st: this was the primary sketch, used to point the mostly the pose. sometimes you can see more of the details... it will depend on how much "dirty" the sketch is...
2nd: here is a cleaner sketch, with a better pose and you can already see more of the details. I changed a lot his face here to the final lines because it looked too girly...
3rd: Final lines. Improved the pose a lil - you can have the feeling that he is resting not strangely still in a spot... you will understand more when it is ready...
I don't have to say that here you can see the details...

Well, sometimes the lineart have to be adjusted, because of some lost detail or mistake. Usually I don't change it.

And now to the colors.

eu usei o programa SAI pra fazer a arte final aqui.
mas tambΓ©m costumo usar a arte final feita com caneta nanquim, caneta bic e lapiseira - depende sΓ³ de quΓ£o limpa estΓ‘ a linha ou do efeito que eu quero.

A superb show of process, really nicely put together. My art doesn't seem to change so much during the stages, but it quite often looks stiff, maybe I should loosen up a little with sketches, as this transition seems to flow vwery well on to the lineart. Great job.

ah, sometimes I stick with the sketch to the end... I change more if I don't have much references of the character itself.
A good thing you can buy to help in the sketch is colored pencils or graphite, as you can see I used a green one to draw the sketchs. And when you use another mechanical pencil or ink pen to do the final lines, you can see the differences more easily. Of course if you have a light table you don't have to use colored graphites... and also this lineart was made in SAI, not by hand...

I use a blue tech pencil for most of my hand drawn bases, but I think I allways draw in to them too mcuh, I don't know where to stop between preliminary sketches and drawing up the final shape of things lol. I think thats what my problem is lol. I've only just got in to CG work in the last few months really, But I'm coming on. And a lightbox may well be a good buy I think. Cheers

Very interesting study and progress. Your sketch is not half as dirty as mine.

Indeed, the second one is very expressive, but it happens that sketches are usually more dynamic due to lines tension and all. Indeed, he looks girly, but I like the face and some of the legs movement.

The final piece turned out beautiful, you improved his hands greatly. I still liking the overall first pose too, but I'm sure the final one has a meaning in the final piece.

AlΓ©m de que o segundo me passa uma leve idΓ©ia de "bich, please" nΓ£o sei porque... deve ser o rosto... hahahhaha

I was looking at this again and noticed that the final piece has more of the body pose from the first sketch than the second one... but since the details of the second one were more accurate... well, it's a mix! XD

lol, pretty cool indeed, it's nice to know your process. Can't wait to see it colored.

I should try the color pencils too.

Take care! =*
