Description [13/12/2016] - Updated to reflect the shift from Wii U to Switch support

--

Like a good deal of other people, I wanted to draw something to show my excitement for YL. I took the route of making it look like an advertisement like those which showed up in games magazines in the late 90s. The particular reference for this was an ad for the N64 game, "Buck Bumble". Anyone remember that?

I don't do lineless art very often, but I enjoy a challenge now and then. ¦D

The moment of heard about this, I had to jump the band wagon. XD

As a fan of "Rare" company with their previous works in Banjo-Kazooie, Donkey Kong Country, Jet Force Gemini, Conker and so on....I had one of those fan girl moments and so need to spread the word to my friends who grow up playing those fun and creative games from the UK.

And maybe draw a quick fan art of my cute/ anime art style on these two fellas.
I am so happy the group behind those games are still around!

Yeah, it's awesome!

I remember watching the transition of how games were made from the 90s to the 2000s, where some developers grew bigger and others went bankrupt or got merged. There was quite a unique feel to British games developed with the 'small group creativity' technique and I had been sad that this method seemed to have been lost to time. But with the rise of the internet's accessibility, independent games developers small and large have returned, and Playtonic is just the latest.

I mean, they hold a special place in my heart because of their origins at Rare, but overall I'm very excited to see the indie game scene thriving with that similar attitude to the past. It's a subject matter I could talk about for ages, haha. XD

I'd love to see your take on Yooka and Laylee!

Huzzah!

I admit some games never survive the dark ages of early internet days.
Ways of promotion I remember in the old days was they use to issue those VHS tapes on upcoming games like "Banjo-Kazooie" "Diddy Kong racing"....

Some drop off and be forgotten over the years. Which is sad for some of those games I really like.
One of them is from Artoon "Blinx the Time Sweeper" a game for the XBOX. I am surprise not many people heard about this game....

Same here. I remember my brother download a game called "Dust" for the PS4 and I was...zomigawd! An indie game!
He is like "what you mean by the that?" for had to explain it to him some of the new games coming out are independent. Made by small group of people and not some powerhouse. Even had to show him an article from "Game Informer" on the Indie movement.

Your not the only one, I love those games by Rare due to childhood memories of mine. XD
I am currently trying to collect those old games for the N64 right now. (So far I got Diddy Kong Racing and Jet Force Gemini...)

I manage to squeeze a fan art!

Was delay due to summer lightning storms that we are currently been having where I live...XC

Ahh! I've heard of "Blinx : The Time Sweeper" - that reminds me to try and find footage of someone playing it some time. Also "Jet Force Gemini."

Yeah, the weather over that side of the Atlantic has sure been nuts lately. I left you a comment about the art, on the art.

This is really cool! It definitely captures that 90s ad feel.

Man I'm so excited for this game! I keep thinking about how awesome Banjo-Kazooie/Tooie was, and a spiritual successor sounds incredibly amazing. I hope the cast is just as colorful as B-K's was, and with the new character design they just unveiled, it looks like it might be!

Thank you! I'm pretty dern excited for this game myself.

I feel positive the Playtonic crew will deliver, as they showed just how much they could produce in three months, along with the same style and eccentricity which brought those good memories flooding back. Of course that doesn't cover all the ideas and game mechanics they need to put in, but seeing early footage does make one optimistic.

It does! And I still can't get my head around how they managed to capture that in just five minutes of early test footage. XD

Experience and reputation, I guess.
